Sole member Reverend JR Preston maintains a fairly prolific output. His mix of '70s hard rock and black metal with a southern rock edge and a touch of psychedelica, all wrapped up in a heavy magickal occult shell, is unlike any other. There are few, if any, deviations from the last two previously reviewed albums (incidentally, both of which were compilations). If anything, the Reverend is repeating himself. The most significant change is that maybe, just maybe, there are more blackened blasts, which leads to the other noticeable shift, that of the production and its preference for hollow sounding tin can drums. The latter was presumably included to up the necrotic quotient, but is an unnecessary distraction. He also has a tendency towards titles that could be from southern rock, if not country & western -- who would expect songs called "Ode to Dixie", "Hiking Through the Eastern Trails" or "Snakebite Cowgirl" on an album like this? Other than these minor alterations, he is not doing anything new. However, he would be foolish to change such a unique and recognisable style, especially in a field overpopulated with similar sounding and interchangeable clones. To briefly sum up, this is more of the same and all the better for it.
