Stuck Mojo - _The Great Revival_
(Napalm Records, 2008)

Despite the permanent presence of a rapper, Stuck Mojo has a cachet of credibility that Fred Durst can only dream of. Stuck Mojo are veterans who had their genesis at a time when the combination of rap and metal was still a novel concept. The arrival of Bodycount, "Judgment Night" soundtrack and assorted nu-metal bandwagon-hoppers -- Stuck Mojo weathered this storm through a beefed up southern rock sound. Speaking of which, a cover of John Denver's (ask your dad) "Country Road" is included, albeit with slight lyrical modifications. All I can say is that it is better than the Eurodance version I heard. Their southern heritage extends beyond rock, and a number of songs have a slight gospel tinge, which adds a southern spiritual edge far more effectively than the samples of an Alabama Pentecostal tent preacher. The tracks with a stronger focus on rock rather than heavy nu-metal styled riffage tended to be more interesting, and while this may not quite be a comeback on a Travolta scale, it's clear that their mojo has not been lost.
