Sala - _En Trance_
(Autarkeia, 2006)

This is apparently a live album, although there is no suggestion that this music was performed live. Where they performed isn't mentioned, but I'm guessing somewhere in their Lithuanian homeland. _En Trance_ essentially follows the same motif as _Schute en Rings Worts_, consisting of two tracks of what can be called ritual ambient.

A continuous and invariable drone -- "invariable" in the sense that it is more like the hum of a refrigerator more than anything else -- forms the basis of this first track. However, there is more happening in conjunction to make it marginally more worthwhile than _SeRW_. Some rhythmic drumming introduces the track, before making way for a variety of effects including some industrial pounding and what could have been horn instruments. The drumming returns towards the end with the horn instrument actually playing a melody. Without the drums or horn instrument to act as an anchor, it has as much direction as a manowar becalmed on the open sea.

More frantic drumming opens the second song, "And Now She Starts Laughing". The drone also returns, though actually with some slight but welcome variance, which eases the monotony. Still, the track cannot escape the feeling that with a little extra effort, a bit of editing, this could have been so much more.
