Abramis Brama - _Live!_
(Record Heaven, 2007)

I have to admit that I didn't even know that there was an audience for very American-styled retro stoner rock in Stockholm, Sweden, but this live album clearly proves that such a market does exist -- and the curiously named Abramis Brama have already been existence for ten years. All lyrics are sung in Swedish, which may be an impediment to some. The vocals are suitably throaty, as if he has been puffing on a fat joint before the performance. The mix is damn good -- this could easily be a studio album, were it not for the occasional crowd cheers. The performance is suitably tight, the melodies particularly catchy. Originality is not their strong point -- and I'm just considering their retro-minded contemporaries here, never mind their influences!A problem with my copy is that there is a few second gaps between songs; this could be because I am reviewing a CD-R version and, presumably, this will not be present in the version available to the public, as it is extremely annoying and disturbs the flow of the songs. This will be probably be more entertaining if you are already familiar with their studio material, but it will do nicely for now.
