_Terrorize Brutalize Sodomize_? Song titles like "Eternal Trail of Corpses", and "Scavenging the Dead"? That's right -- the latest Coldplay weep-fest this ain't. In fact, you'd imagine that any fan of the aformentioned pansies would probably suffer deep-seated psychological trauma if they were exposed to ten minutes of this stuff. But then, I'm also positive that Sweden's Vomitory revel at the thought.Like their previous records, _Terrorize Brutalize Sodomize_ is a rather relentless affair; technical (though never overly so) death metal generally played at blast-speeds, and songs written with just enough structure so as to disqualify Vomitory from being an all-out gore-grind band. Ironically, it's this structured approach that becomes a sticking point after the album initially gets off to a strong start. While it's one thing to keep returning to a formula that works, Vomitory repeat theirs like a mantra. Thus, with so much atonal cacophony, after twenty minutes we've heard pretty much everything that Vomitory has to offer. "March Into Oblivion" makes for a slight, if welcome respite with its nod to good old fashioned European thrash, but it's an all-too-brief distraction on a record that could quite easily have been twice as good.
