Vespers Descent - _Visions in Verse_
(Prime Cuts Music, 2005)
by: Quentin Kalis (5.5 out of 10)
What can be said about this band that hasn't been said so many times before and more eloquently? Vespers Descent are yet another addition to the pantheon of bands performing Swedish styled melodic death, with little variation. As with so many others in the genre, the music per se is not entirely atrocious, nor is the band horrible beyond redemption; rather their musical energies are not channeled in the most efficient manner possible, and the end result is an album that is derivative and offers just enough to tide one over til the next melodeath record. Uncritical lovers of all that is melodic and heavy will not be disappointed; those who are increasingly tired with the barrage of bands indulging in this claptrap are best advised to look elsewhere.
