Taid - _Candymountain Candycave_
by: Quentin Kalis (2.5 out of 5)
The Swedish duo of Taid were initially known as Tide, but changed their name when they discovered a local, older cover band with the same name. (Ironic that copyright on a band name should be deferred to a band that doesn't perform any original material.)

The vocals sound uncannily similar to Lex Icon (The Kovenant), but they largely stay away from EBM elements, although a few can be heard in the background. Sandwiched between an intro and outro (which sounds like the intro being played backward) are four songs located within the gothic rock / metal spectrum. They rarely stray far from mid-tempo, and produce several head nodders with chugging rhythms and melodic choruses, resulting in acceptable but otherwise unremarkable songs. On this, their second demo, the duo have mastered the basics, but some deviation from a well-trodden motif will be required to retain interest for any future full-length.
