_The Resilience_ is evidence of Mr Klingwall's ability to produce moving pieces of darkened neoclassical, but this predecessor is of dubious value. Consisting of songs written between 1997 and 2006, few are longer than the average grindcore ditty and no less than 27 songs are presented in 44 minutes. Consequently, they do not feel so much like songs as ideas that were not fully developed or brought to fruition, and appears to have been released to generate attention for the subsequent release of his debut proper. As much as I wished to enjoy this as much as _The Resilience_, this compilation of songs for the attention deficit failed to make an impression.
