Fredrik Klingwall - _The Resilience_
(Last Entertainment, 2008)
by: Quentin Kalis (7 out of 10)
_The Resilience_ continues on the path set by its predecessor, _Chronicles in Decay_, with neoclassical synth strings and piano tinkling, aptly described as "cinematic". Unlike the one-minded bombast of Sturm or Phragments, Fredrik Klingwall is interested in the evocation of myriad emotions, ranging from awe, dread and fear. _CiD_ suffered from its fragmentary and abbreviated songs, and greater attempt is made here to create longer and more effective tracks, but his art would still benefit from lengthier songs, which would be better placed to convey the requisite emotions. He may not threaten the exalted status of the symphonic neoclassical elite, but this debut (_CiD_ was a compilation of tracks written over ten years) is strong enough to cement his position within the scene as a potential force to be reckoned with.
