Hymen Holocaust - _Necromance_
(No Escape Records, 2006)
by: Quentin Kalis (2 out of 10)
"Endless line of virgins / Waiting for their turn / They don't know how to fuck / But very soon they will learn" ("Virgin Surgeon")

Such juvenilia is typical of this ostensibly sexually deviant act, the solo project of Morris Cliteater, drummer of Cliteater. I didn't expect much from an act reveling in name such as Hymen Holocaust, but neither did I expect a CD of such shockingly low quality. Dubious lyrics can be compensated, and in many cases are, by above average music (think Cannibal Corpse) but there is no chance of that occurring here. The guitar has a crusty and sleazy sound, which admittedly could have worked, but the preponderance of insipid riffs nipped that one in the bud. The vocals are no less monotonous than the guitar, and consist entirely of an unintelligible growl -- a blessing in disguise, considering the quality of the lyrics. _Necromance_ as a whole is dull and repetitive to the point of inanity, and cannot escape the sense of being a heavily rushed work filled with below par material. The sole positive aspect is the abbreviated playing time, lasting as long as the average sitcom, only more painful.
