Hymen Holocaust - _Hymen Holocaust_
(No Escape Records, 2007)
by: Quentin Kalis (2.5 out of 10)
How did this get to be released? Sole member Morris Cliteater (Maurice van den Broek on his ID) is part of Cliteater, who may be a decent band, and the debut Hymen Holocaust CD (_Necromancy_) could have been released on the strength of Cliteater's catalogue. But this is now his fourth solo album, and barely differs from his debut.

There is little to suggest anything approaching progression; the same low pitched vocals, the same sleazy and crusted guitar tone, the same porno gore lyrics all return. Even the concept is once again based on a film by Jorg Buttgereit ("Der Todesking") as was _Necromancy_. About the only difference is that the tempos are a bit faster. The fact that a fourth album was released suggests there is some sort of inexplicable market for this, and if drunken frat-boy humour makes you laugh 'til you hurt, some joy may be had in songs such as "Shaken, not Furred". Otherwise, the goregrind pool is a large one, and there are other and better albums out there.
