Wrath Attack - _Bringing Out the Thrash_
by: Quentin Kalis (2 out of 5)
Sometimes a band rushes to release the all-important and seminal first demo, the seed of what would hopefully be a long and fulfilling musical career. In this rush, inadequate time may be spent on their songs and they release it prematurely, before they are ready to unleash their creations upon the wider world. I fear this is what Wrath Attack has done. This demo consists of just two songs of lowbrow old-school thrash -- the title track and "Anthems of Anger". (Isn't there already a song or two out there with the same title?) The total playing time is less than seven minutes, which means the songs don't overstay their welcome, but neither are they particularly welcome; "Anthems of Anger" plods along whilst the up-tempo "Bringing Out the Thrash" features a variation of a melody that has been used many, many times before. The first recording of a band is like using your virginity; the purpose is not to do it well, but to simply do it. Once the first time is over, the focus will shift to technique, something I hope Wrath Attack will do on subsequent recordings.
