Sine Luce - _L'Ombra dell' Apparenza_
by: Quentin Kalis (2.5 out of 5)
The second demo from the Italian one-man project borrows heavily from the gamut of Norse veterans, from warm post-Burzum fuzziness ("Il Dono della Follia") through to the necrotic excesses of Darkthrone ("L'Ombra del Viandante") and back again to the simplicity of Burzum key tinkling ("Prologo / L'Inizio di un Viagggio").

However, this is all rendered through a murky production, as if it is filtering through troll-infested woods. The effect creates a sense of detachment and an emotional distance between the listener and the music, which is further enhanced by the distorted vocals. (I wonder if he is doing a _Filosofem_ and using a broken mike?) This, together with a hypnotic repetitiveness, holds together what could otherwise be rather disparate strands.

Whilst this may be mildly diverting, it is also a bit too much like every single other new one man shows band, but it's not too much of a stretch to imagine something worthwhile could emerge from this project several demos later.
