Antagonism - _XXI Century_
by: Quentin Kalis (2.5 out of 5)
The problem with speaking foreign languages is that even if one can do so at a conversational level, unintended nuances may result. Poland's Lord Wind suggests a juvenile notions of a master of flatulence (don't pretend you never thought of it!) and similarly, for Italians Antagonism to refer to themselves as "urban death metal" conjures unpleasing images of rap / hip-hop melded with metal, a notion far removed from their old-school tinged death metal. In this context, "urban" probably refers to their lyrical focus on the contemporary and modern, rather then the archaic and arcane topics beloved by many of their peers.

Whilst there may be little to fault in their death metal, there is little to recommend it either. It is not particularly primitive, nor notably technical, staying resolutely at midpace throughout the demo's four songs, providing an adequate if somewhat predictable listen. With little to separate them from other musically similar acts, they are unlikely to gain much attention outside their hometown.
