Sorg Inkallelse - _Rise of the Shadows_

Despite the Norse sounding name, Sorg Innkallelse are an Iranian band -- but in light of their very Scandinavian take on black metal, the name is an apt choice, and they have imbued their music with the same desolate and unforgiving atmosphere boasted by the genre's masters. Not that there is anything here that will be a surprise to anyone vaguely familiar with the frostbitten sounds of Norway, as Sorg Innkallelse serve up a raw and grim dish (best served cold, of course) yet with sufficient clarity to develop that requisite grim and cold feeling that is the hallmark of quality black metal. This won't receive any accolades for originality, but there will always be space on my shelf for another dose of cold and hateful black metal.
