It does not take the proverbial rocket scientist to discern who Lie in Ruins would cite as their primary influences. Second demo _...Statues_ is essentially a time warp back to the late Eighties and early Nineties, during the heyday of Swedish death meal. This will be a wonderfully nostalgic trip for those such as yours truly, who was a gawky boob-obsessed teenager during the salad days of Entombed and Dismember, both of whom were instrumental in developing my tastes for more extreme musical expressions. It is not a shameless rip-off as some might assume, but more of a loving tribute; and when listened to as such, it is highly enjoyable. Those whose foremost requirement in music is originality are strongly advised to look elsewhere.
