But dammit, if this is so generic, then why has this somehow managed to worm (excuse the pun) its way to the top of the demo pile? My answer is that it really isn't that bad; generic and unoriginal, but not particularly terrible. The keys are not so much bombastic pseudo-classical a la Limbonic Art or Anorexia Nervosa, but possess an ambient quality, while his background in folk has resulted in less simplistic acoustic passages than I otherwise would have expected.

In brief, _Memorial to a Golden Age_ presents nothing new, but is not all bad for his first blackened experiment and will get several more listens in the coming months. Whether I will listen to it beyond that is a moot point.
