Dominus - _Minions_

From the former guitarist of Ireland's For Ruin comes this five-track demo. The music consists of a mix of death and black metal, with a drum machine providing a competent but flat rhythmic backbone. The pace ranges from slow to blastbeat, with the vocals accordingly changing from death growls to blackened rasps. The guitar work is good and the production acceptable, while the songwriting tries to remain varied throughout. _Minions_ is not a bad start for Dominus and does have decent quality, but it simply lacks the kind of distinctive elements in terms of originality or excellence that might push it to a higher level.
