Bahamut - _Hidden Theory_
by: Pedro Azevedo (3 out of 5)
While this one-man project is short on technical skill and production values, their atmospheric, funeral black metal is none the worse for that reason. Lengthy, mournful synth passages occasionally interspersed with bells form the majority of this demo's duration, while the actual black metal passages are relatively few and far between. The music seems clearly influenced by early Burzum and other likeminded acts, but Bahamut opt for a much more prominent atmospheric component. The result is a demo that may not shine for its musicianship (nor does it try to), but nevertheless transmits considerable personality and feeling. It will all now depend on where Bahamut will go next, and whether this project will evolve into an equally dark but more complex entity.
