Inner Sanctvm - _Christi Testamenta_
(I, Voidhanger Records, 2012)
by: Chaim Drishner (5 out of 10)
An eighteen year hiatus between debut and this, the sophomore effort by the Uruguayan veteran Inner Sanctvm, and -this- is what we get? Middle of the road, pedestrian, thrash-ish melodic metal? Come on guys, this is the best you could conjure after so many years in the making?!

_Christi Testamenta_ has immediately echoed Massacra's 1995 swansong, namely _Humanize Human_ album, which has been a semi-cool, semi-goofy effort with some interesting and powerful moments of robust thrash metal alongside some of the most ridiculous moments the metal underground has ever encountered, what with the embarrassing French-accented English portrayed on that forgettable album and the misplaced groove it experimented with.

On every account _Christi Testamenta_ is better; hell, it even displays some dark metal etiquette in the Alastis vein (_Revenge_ era) along with some hardcore punk manoeuvres, but something here is amiss; it's either in the songwriting level, which is simplistic and uninteresting, or the chewed-up riffs. For a label such as I, Voidhanger, who has been the purveyor of quality musical outputs, this release seems like a bastard son of an album that does not belong to this excellent label's roster. There's nothing here you haven't heard before and as such, I see no reason why anybody should listen to this mundane recording other than the desire to have some more of the same. Give _Christi Testamenta_ a chance; you may find something in it I have not.
