_Trenches_ is the death metal equivalent of a wakened and ravenous corpse who, instead of clawing out of the cemetery and into your living room, manages only to roll around in its grave and moan impotently. It's still scarier than an inanimate cadaver (a little), and it will indeed try to eat you if you jump in with it and spread yourself prone before its gnashing jaws, but it ain't bringin' the evil straight to your home, is what I'm saying. Guitars rip. Guttural voices gurgle. There are drums. If you were born listening to death metal and you were raised by death metal enthusiasts who sheltered you from all other forms of musical expression and you hear death metal in all your dreams and you wish you were always dreaming 'cause that's where the death metal is, then maybe you should listen to this. But still, probably not.
