So, next up in the unfolding adventure that is Gorod's discography is 2012's _A Perfect Absolution_. "Birds of Sulphur" opens the album with a theatrically ominous introduction that gives way to an array of dizzying riffs and pulsating drums. A bit more than a minute into "Sailing Into the Earth", an awesome transition will slap you in the face and wake you up while maintaining the same feel of the riff before it. The whole thing is not completely in the technical vein. Melody is also present throughout _A Perfect Absolution_ as you'll find on the likes of "The Axe of God" and my personal favorite "5000 at the Funeral". It's a sharp, focused and well rounded album that doesn't even cross the forty minute mark but will undoubtedly have you coming back for more.

2012 has already seen some tough competition in terms of tech-death output. Sweden's Spawn of Possession ended a six year silence with a colossal album in _Incurso_; Italians Hour of Penance unleashed another beast entitled _Sedition_, while Australia's Psycroptic amped up the ferocity with _The Inherited Repression_. Now the French have arrived. With _A Perfect Absolution_, Gorod are signaling the arrival of the French Death Metal Armor Battalion to the worldwide death metal battlefield. I can already imagine studded line-ups in death metal festivals around Europe this summer. Which one are you attending?
