Immanifest - _Qilphotic_
(Metal Matters, 2010)

_Qliphotic_ is Immanifest's birth certificate into the black metal province of the extreme metal world. It's a three track EP that traverses, quite masterfully if I may add, the borders between the lands of black and melodic death metal, making them virtually blurred for sixteen minutes. The riffs and drums on "Among the Dead" explode repeatedly while relying on a very thick keyboard background. The use of keyboards is also very prominent on the powerful opening track "Revelations In Darkness" which blast away with a murderous precision akin to that of machine gun soldier. "Thaumiel" plays fast and with the tempo meter as it opens an unceasing fire for more than three minutes and then comes to a bitter halt only to fire off again in an ever-blasting fashion.

Immanifest have done a great job on _Qliphotic_. The question is: Can they keep things interesting while expanding their plateau into a full-length album? Only time will tell.
