Six Point Lead - _General Anaesthesia_
(Independent, 2009)

Italy has been well established on the heavy metal map ever since the annual Gods of Metal festival started thirteen years ago, with performances by legendary bands like Iron Maiden, Slayer, Testament, Sodom, Mötorhead and many others. But throughout the years, not many Italians followed the footsteps of the many bands they see in Milan, and unfortunately, Turin's Six Point Lead don't stand out from the herd.

Six Point Lead faithfully adhere to the over-worked structure of verse-chorus-verse-chorus in a manner that is similar to how their football clubs adhere to their catenaccio. The four tracks comprising Six Point Lead's first EP _General Anesthesia_ have the exact same structure. The verses are sung with that standard raspy screaming and the choruses are sung in clean vocals; all of them. This generic and predictable approach exposes the few good ideas on offer and brings the average down as if it got hit behind the knees with a baseball bat. If you've had any previous musical education and happen to know what a bar is and how to count it, then you can guess when the guitar solos are going to end.

By the end of the last track, you'll realize that no part of this EP sticks with you; not the clever drum beat in the chorus of "Starvation and Desire"; not even that briefly engaging breakdown before the chorus of "Until the Last Drop". This is definitely a poor effort and is one that will have trouble surviving to double digit listens.
