Lenghty opuses "Valnaden", "Dimfard" and "Skuggorna Kallar" often pass the nine minute mark and suggest Skogen have been listening quite awhile to shoegaze acts, Drudkh or even Alcest, thus managing a very fine combination of black metal vocal screech (somewhat reminiscent of the young Grutle Kjellson of Enslaved), spacy guitars and trance-like repetitiveness. Short instrumentals "Skymning" and "Host" see the band going into pure neofolk territory, while "Under Fullmanens Sken" whirls the listener back to more traditional fast-paced black metal.

Best comes last -- "I Skogens Djup" is a smashing, heavy as hell black metal lament mixing disharmonics, sinister melody, growling vocals, wind effects and acoustic guitars into a grand finale. Though still far from the league of Drudkh, Skogen seem to know how to get there.
