Faethon - _Immortal Ancient Spirit_
(Blazing Productions, 2009)

Try as I might, I struggled to extract anything of merit from this confused mess. The production is horrible; it could not have sounded worse were it recorded in the Acropolis. The drums, keys and vocals are way too high in the mix, the guitars far too low, insignificant and far, far too screechy. I've heard plenty of bedroom black metal before and am fully aware of what can be achieved with minimal resources, and it's much more than this. As if that weren't bad enough, there's more padding here than on an entire American football team. The few real songs are mid-length, yet the droning key-infused intro is lazily dragged out for nearly ten minutes! There's also two covers (Absurd and Thorr's Hammer, not so subtly hinting at their political leanings) and a thankfully shorter outro, leaving a handful of songs that could have been released as an EP. Unless ideology takes precedence over musical quality, there's nothing to be gained by subjecting yourself to this.
