Green Carnation - _Alive and Well... in Krakow_
(Metal Mind Productions, 2009)
by: Quentin Kalis (no rating)
Once again, Metal Mind has inexplicably re-released a DVD as a CD. If the DVD is sold out (as it should damn well be!) then why not just reprint it? Or even better, release a DVD of new live material. When this concert was recorded, Green Carnation had only released three albums, of which _A Blessing in Disguise_ was the weakest. They were clearly hitting the road in support of this one at the time, as eight (out of nine!) songs are taken from this album, the sole exception being the first part of the epic _Light of Day, Day of Darkness_, featured as a glorious extended intermezzo. Nothing has been changed -- even the liner notes still advertise the "upcoming" _The Trilogy_ LP box set, released five years ago. With such a heavy bias in favour of their weakest work and completely ignoring their debut, there is little reason to buy this. The number of classic albums (and less than stellar CDs by classic bands) given the re-issue treatment by Metal Mind is legion, but this is one of their few missteps and really not worth the purchase price.
