Malfeitor - _Incubus_
(Agonia, 2009)
by: Jeremy Ulrey (8 out of 10)
Raw and relentless, hyperbolic and unclean, Malfeitor are a ferocious addition to the Italian black metal scene. Screaming out of their cage like an unfed pitbull, "Down With Me" sets a dynamic, skull rattling pace that is subsequently never topped but nonetheless diligently maintained. M. Fabban takes time off from Aborym to helm this new band -- pointedly -not- a side project -- with spiteful, frenzied vocals just feeding on hate and ritual misery. This intensity is not only matched but borne aloft on the absolutely pulverising display of percussive might Goraath brings to the table.

Unchecked (and unsoiled) by pointless intros and atmospheric padding, _Incubus_ rages nonstop seething against Christ, man's inhumanity to man, and pretty much anything else you've got. There may not be quite enough variation or innovation to establish Malfeitor as a tier one black metal band at this stage, but watch your back. Time will tell what fate befalls Aborym (or the lesser known Stormcrow [Italy], who contribute both Goraath and bassist Narchost to these proceedings). They have yet to return to the recording studio since the sessions that produced 2006's _Generator_, but if this is the last we've heard of Aborym, consider Malfeitor a worthy trade up.
