The Quebec, Canada, newcomers Superior Enlightenment are cut from the same metallic cloth as other proficient and über-fast, sort-of-black death as Belphegor and Zyklon. "Newcomers", is not quite right; the band is new, but the various members have been kicking around the scene in a variety of guises, including Monarque and Magister Dixit. Occasionally they do slow down, providing some of the most arresting moments, but mostly stick to the sort of speed associated with intercontinental missiles. The punishing drums can sound mechanic, but it is most assuredly not the product of a machine. Although the songs are enjoyable exercises in pedal to the metal speed, once the first ten or fifteen have passed, Superior Enlightenment have exhausted their limited oeuvre with subsequent decrease in interest, but until it gets to that point, you're in for a rollercoaster ride.
