Lovers of all things widdly and onanistic are urged to skip this review; in this context "progressive" would mean adding a fourth chord. Pistons provide little more than heavy rock equally indebted to punk rock and Motorhead. The lyrics are centred on the band, their love of rock 'n' roll and a copious amount of braggadocio. They are lyrically simple to the point of inanity; "Natural Born Pistons" and "50 Years of Rock 'n' Roll" share the same, only slightly altered lyrics. Songs are of course short and straightforward, with no extraneous elements, not even a lead. And don't even ask about atmosphere. The problem is that this is enjoyable on first and even subsequent listens, but is the musical equivalent of a Big Mac, and after a short period, the need for something more substantial is required. It was fun while it lasted.
