Aanal Beehemoth - _The Forest Paranoid_
(Suffering Jesus Productions, 2008)

Kitsch corpse paint, grandiose posturing and OTT blasphemy... as much as we love the genre, black metal is dying for a good piss-take. Several have tried and failed. So too does the duo of Deathly Fightar and Crazy Bomber. Lyrically they indulge in blasphemy bordering on the ridiculously juvenile ("Hellraising from your ass" is typical) or exhorting the use of illicit substances. Norse black metal is notorious for its bad grammar and spelling (see "I Am the Black Wizards") but the phonetic spelling is more uneducated redneck than a Scandinavian working from a bilingual dictionary. (For example, "amphetamine" is rendered "a-fetamin".) These mistakes are clearly deliberate -- or at least the majority are. Beyond this and vaguely Nordic sounding neologisms such as "morkness", there is nothing here that will survive one night of drunken laughter. I won't bother with the music -- apart from being dull run of the mill stuff, it isn't their raison d'ĂȘtre: taking the mickey out of metal is. Unless you consider "Date Movie" and "Epic Movie" to be comedy classics, this doesn't even warrant a single listen. Black metal needs the irreverent treatment, but it also deserves better than this.
