This one's going to draw mixed reactions, I can tell. Well played, impeccably produced, everything cleanly rendered except the cheap 3ds Max cover art, almost landmark in its wretchedness, Lecherous Nocturne struggle to offer anything beyond raw talent. _The Age of Miracles Has Passed_, their second 'album' -- like their first, more of an extended EP -- is both engaging and easily forgotten, a dervish maelstrom of propulsive rhythms, buzzsaw guitars and multi-layered vocals all competing for attention. "When Single Shines the Sun" finally lets off the accelerator a bit, and man I mean to tell ya that's a relative term, but finally you can hear a bit of actual song craft rearing its head rather than just coordinated frenzy. The lull lasts only briefly before the synchronized cacophony kicks back in, but if in fact the band are still learning the ropes when it comes to writing material, one can do worse for a half hour of mosh pit anthems (the title track alone provides a slowed down reprieve, and as such is easily the weakest track on the album). Though not quite living up to the promise of other tech-thrashers like Cryptopsy or Immolation, Lecherous Nocturne appeal to those that can't get enough of those bands' relentless, full speed ahead death assault.
