Jex Thoth have built upon the foundations of the _Totem_ EP, creating more focused and less meandering songs whilst retaining the essential elements: fuzzy downtuned doom riffs, Hammond organ and the retro-psychedelic-occult atmosphere. And, of course, the haunting vocals of Jex Thoth, who gave her presumed non de plume to the band. The band would not fall apart if she was absent, but it would be much poorer for her departure.

It's hard to sum them up in a few words, but Thoth's description as "alchemical doom" is as good as another and aptly captures their idiosyncratic mix. Think of it as the musical representation of having smoked a baggie of Swazi: everything seems slowed down, you feel as if you are moving through water, and you have that light-headed feeling.
