Finns Fall of the Idols perform slow, ponderous and heavy doom -- just the way it was meant to be. The presence of three guitarists undoubtedly contributes to its oppressive heaviness, although they are capable of some beautiful lead work as well. The album proceeds almost uniformly at a snail's pace, with "At the Birth of the Human Shadow" the sole mid-tempo (for doom) track. There are a few other mid-paced moments, but for the most part it is slow -- beautifully and agonisingly so. The vocals are clearly enunciated, and this album is likely to invite comparisons with Count Raven and Saint Vitus, but Fall of the Idols definitely occupy their own miserable niche.
