Theudho were a straightforward black metal band in the nascent stages of their career, but they have evolved towards a more melodic and symphonic strain that does justice to their pagan tendencies. Although the guitarist performs mainly black metal scales, there is an occasional flurry of thrash and inevitable forays into folk melodies. The keys do not dominate, but provide a rich symphonic canvas for the guitar work. The vocals consist of a mid-level rasp, occasionally lurching into unnecessary narration. The drums are rather straightforward and repetitive, but at least they are real. The sound and production are clear, courtesy of Raf, erstwhile member of compatriots Ancient Rites, and I really don't think I need state what their lyrical focus is! To conclude, Theudho have produced a mixed bag; some are anthemic numbers that the one-eyed one would approve of, but others are weak and with generic melodies.
