Midnight Idols - _Nightrulers_
(Independent, 2008)
by: Quentin Kalis (7 out of 10)
I'm assuming that the aim of Midnight Idols is to produce an album of NWOBHM, albeit with a slight punk edge as well as appropriate production and sound, evoking the memory of the masters. If the answer is in the affirmative, then they could have done little better. The lyrical focus rarely strays above the belt (see "Kockstruck" and "Nymphonicon") and the song structures are straightforward, as are the solos. Except for spotty kids for whom metalcore is metal and Iron Maiden nothing more than dinosaurs that their daddies listen to, this will present nothing new to the listener -- but that's hardly the point now, is it?
