Sacred Oath - _...'Til Death Do Us Part (Live in Germany)_
(Angel Thorne Music Company LLC, 2008)
by: Quentin Kalis (7.5 out of 10)
This was recorded on November 3, 2007 at the Dittigheim Sporthalle, Dittigheim, during the Keep It True Festival IX, "true" presumably referring to the preferred metal genre of the participants. Sacred Oath have only released two studio albums prior to this, plus a re-recording of the debut, resulting in a somewhat limited set list. They are firmly rooted in the NWOBHM tradition, especially Iron Maiden, plus a strong helping of chugging thrash rhythms, a la Metallica before their grand mal fits over Napster. I really don't go for the vocalist's falsetto, but he can do it -- and in a live setting -- so kudos to him. Speaking of live, the sound is almost too clean for a live setting, with only the drums sounding a bit rawer than the norm, otherwise this is much better than most self-financed studio albums! If you're unfamiliar with the band, one of the studio albums would have been an obvious starting point, and if you've heard one of their albums, then this should be finding its way into your collection pretty soon.
