'Tis the hour of déjà vu, not desolation, as Aeons of Eclipse traverse a landscape well travelled by many embarking on a pilgrimage to the altar of death metal. Some keys are present, providing an additional and very occasional impetus to their inexorable death charge. Like many other independently released death metal albums, they have the arrangements and skills required, but fail to present something that pushes the boundaries a bit, even taking into account the inherently narrow confines of the genre. There are a few unexpected deviations from the old-school death metal motif; for example, "Condemnation" features some metalcore style vocals briefly and a melodic edge emerges in the album's latter half, but it is insufficient to deviate from their tribute to death metal of yore.
