Bonded by Blood - _Feed the Beast_
(Earache Records, 2008)
by: Jackie Smit (6 out of 10)
Yet another in a tidal wave of vintage thrash efforts that Earache have deemed fit to bestow on the world, it takes about twenty seconds of this Californian quintet's debut to realise that the inherent reference to a certain legendary act in their moniker didn't come about by accident. These boys have named themselves after Exodus for a reason, and they aren't backwards in coming forward about it either. They certainly know their way around a riff as evidenced en masse by the likes of "Immortal Life" and "Psychotic Pulse", and to give them their due, they never quite take themselves too seriously, particularly not when covering the theme music off "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles". Still, with very little save a healthy attitude, decent musicianship and a certain nostalgic charm to get them by, _Feed the Beast_ doesn't quite qualify as essential listening. Then again, I'd wager the band themselves don't reckon so either.
