Essentially what you get here is a well performed yet rote measuring of the current doom/death genre's pulse. Relying on a steady torrent of arpeggiated riffs and mid tempo rhythms, the lack of stand out material makes _Lost to the Living_ a fairly numbing experience, more so in a cerebral rather than an emotional manner. Nathan Ellis' vocals are fairly nondescript in cookie monster mode, and they're not much more convincing when he breaks out the all too predictable clean patterns for "Woke Up Lost" and "Last Alone". You ask me, this band has been getting a pass for their adept if unadventurous playing and passable production values, but in terms of songwriting we've got a long way to go.
