Akrival initially inspired comparisons with Marduk and Dark Funeral, but as the album progressed, it became harder to sustain this comparison. The preference for fast trebly blasts remains, and the aggression barely relents, but their songs are much less straightforward than those of the Swedish icons. The unusual song arrangements create a decidedly fragmented sound and songs that are anything but sparse, resulting in an album with a multitude of shifts that force the listener to really listen and not just hear the album. However with time and repeated listening, they fail to draw the listener in completely into their world. Those with an ear for technical performances may appreciate this; just don't expect any atmospheric touches.
