Andras - _Iron Way_
(Einheit Produktionen, 2008)
by: Kostas Sarampalis (7 out of 10)
Somehow leading one to expect yet another mediocre and utterly forgettable Viking metal album, _Iron Way_ turns out to be a pleasantly surprising collection of songs. Taking equal amounts of inspiration from such acts as Summoning, Dimmu Borgir and Vintersorg, Andras somehow take me back to the mid Nineties. Maybe it is the uplifting and often utterly hummable guitars, the slightly naive drumming, or the combination of gritty and clean vocals dispersed throughout _Iron Way_; who knows?

Andras has been around for quite a while, and this is their fifth full-length. _Iron Way_ starts strong with probably its best song, "Miasma Track". The clean vocals might take a little time to get used to, but the first half of the album is a succession of great songs that take you along for the ride. Unfortunately the second half is not as strong, but there is plenty here to coerce you to play the album again. There are perhaps a few too many deja-vu moments that will remind you of something else, but in all honesty, I had fun listening to Andras.
