Neronoia - _Il Rumore Delle Cose_
(Eibon Records, 2008)
by: Quentin Kalis (7 out of 10)
Neronoia is a collaboration between the Italian darkwave bands Canaan and Colloquio, and this is their sophomore album. Canaan (headed by Mauro Berchi, founder of Eibon Records) is the heavier of the two constituent bands, but is not averse to drone interludes, whilst Colloquio is more comfortable hiding behind a wall of synthesized misery. Since their debut album, I have had the opportunity to hear both constituent bands and can safely conclude that the best elements of each band are utilized to create something different from either project, and this is far from being a clumsy welding. On the contrary, the sound is remarkably consistent, which is a positive -- but it is also a negative; there is virtually no significant differences between this and Neronoia's debut, _Um Mondo in Me_, and _Il Rumore Delle Cose_ could easily have been recorded at the same session as its predecessor. Perhaps it is a bit darker, but that's about it as far as differences are concerned. If you enjoyed _UMiM_, you will enjoy this; if you didn't, then avoid this album.
