No real surprises here: their music is true to its roots and uncompromising in its approach, monotonous at times and furiously thrashing at others. While the opening tracks offer nothing more than the usual screams plus ultra thin and speedy blackened guitar screech, _HomSelvareg_ gains momentum reaching its peak near the very end of the record -- the mournful acoustic piece "La Morte" and the following slab of epic black metal "Ascesa" form the most powerful section within this album.

Surprisingly, even the underproduced bonus material (taken from the the band's demo) contains a suitably decent track, "Lend Your Heart to the Night", a straight-forward yet melodic piece of (black) art. While not even close to groundbreaking, _HomSelvareg_ might still qualify as an interesting listen for most black metal purists.
