There are fewer speedy passages than on previous works and more muted songs -- songs for autumn, rather than berserker battle frenzies. Some songs, such as the title track, compare favourably to their earlier work, but by comparison, it is weaker, as it lacks that infectious jauntiness of their previous opuses. But the major change is the sharp drop in the quality of material, and _Drakkars in the Mist_ is Folkearth's weakest album to date. It is possible and indeed probable that director Ruslanas is able to co-ordinate the various disparate members in a timely and effective manner, but releasing another extensive full-length ten months later does seem to be pushing it. (Although this was released in May 2007, a fourth full-length is already in the making, with the working title _Father of Victory_.)

Overall, this is an enjoyable folk metal sojourn, and I will return to it in coming months, but it is far from being their best work.
