Crux's career is limited to two demos, both of which are present here. There are only two possible reasons why this is could be re-released: either it is damn good, or it has attained some sort of cult status. A cover picture of three gurning teenagers suggests the former reason is probably not applicable, whilst the fact that Blackosh (vocals) and Evil (drums) later joined Czech legends Root suggest the latter may be applicable.

First and subsequent listens confirmed by initial perception that this re-release was due more to some sort of "cult" status, real or perceived, than the actual quality of the music. I have heard plenty of demos that are far worse, and had this unhallowed 'zine existed back then, this could quite conceivably have received an above average rating in our demo section. The thrash rhythms sound pretty dated now, whilst the endearingly cheesy lyrics are what one would expect from a trio of beer drinking and party loving teenagers just out of high school. It is actually quite enjoyable, as their proto-black metal approach lent this album an atmosphere that would only resurface in the years to come. This trio is -- or were -- rather talented, and _Rex Smrti_ is a pleasing enough sojourn through the nascent Czech scene.

Buy this if you have a burning desire for all things thrash, or if you want to hear a historical footnote in the development of the Czech metal scene. But if you are looking for a decent thrash album on which to spend your hard-earned cash, you may want to look elsewhere.
