Comatose Vigil - _Narcosis_
(Solitude Productions, 2006)
by: Quentin Kalis (8 out of 10)
Don't be fooled by its playing time of 36 minutes; this is marketed as a single and should be regarded as such. There are three tracks: the first and second are Russian and English language versions of the title track, the purpose of which is a moot point given the vocalist's penchant for low-pitched and somewhat incoherent growls. The third track is listed simply as a "bonus track", but is revealed to be a Crematory cover which is not nearly as good as the main song and is largely of curiosity value only.

"Narcosis" is similar to _Not a Gleam of Hope_, released six months before; indeed I wouldn't be surprised if they were recorded during the same session. I won't focus too much on their sound, as it is elaborated upon in the review of _NaGoH_, except to say that if emotionally devastating and crushingly heavy funeral doom sounds like your cup of proverbial tea, then _Narcosis_ is definitely worth a listen.

As long as no misapprehensions as to the nature of the release are present, it is a worthwhile purchase for any lover of funeral doom.
