"They Hate Us" is a slow brooding number, with vocals provided by a guest female singer, whilst "Just a Reason" is a rather beautiful acoustic number. Tracks such as "Blood to Blood" and "Through You" are punchy, catchy numbers heavily reliant on melodic Bay Area thrash riffing. These are the album's highlights and I wouldn't be surprised if these are their crowd pleasers for live performances. Yet the overwhelming impression is that these diversions suggest a band trying to find their sound, rather than merely exploring different styles within the context of their vision. Still, not bad for an independently released debut.
