Interestingly and somewhat enigmatically, they are described as having a "cinematic" approach. Perhaps this is a reference to the synth strings, which are absolutely sublime (a string quartet would have been better, but one has to be realistic) and which are effective in creating the obligatory gloomy atmosphere. The earlier mentioned spiritual elements consist of occasional chanting, which adds humaneness to a sound that risks becoming coldly sterile. This may not be as dark as Atrium Carceri or Letum, but they still create a suitably bleak ambience capable of raising the hairs on the back of the proverbial neck.
