In a perfect world, a cursive glance at the album title and post-nuclear holocaust cover art would serve as enough of a clue for most to sum up what Throne of Molok's debut is all about. Listen closely however, and you're likely to be both surprised and confused. In fact, the band appear to be rather flummoxed themselves, as they simultaneously juggle referencing Darkthrone, Slayer, old school death metal and hardcore gabba. The dilema with this schizophrenic mix is that no one strand ever flows naturally into the next. This is particularly frustrating as the band seem readily capable to have made it all mesh together, judging by a track like "Fire (A Bullet for You)". Instead, Throne of Molok seem set on giving each influence its own place of prominence in every song, making for a spasmodic listening experience at best. A genuine case of under-realised potential if ever there was one.
